Just heard about this awesome kid that wanted to make a difference in Africa where AIDs is a big problem. Here is the video. I think this is something that we will have to do here in Dport sometime in the near future. You can check out the website here.
PEACE Doug Thursday, April 17, 2008I'm not posting until more people vote
I'm suspending my blog until I get at least 20 votes on my cool new poll, so tell your friends....I refuse.
PEACE Doug Wednesday, April 16, 2008Saturday, April 12, 2008Friday, April 11, 2008Shout to the Lord on Idol!?
If you missed it, here it is. Not only did it sound good, but they didn't take out "Jesus". Pretty neato.
PEACE Doug Wednesday, April 9, 2008Shift!
I'm at Shift! a student leadership conference. And it is great so far, I've heard Brian McLaren and he talked about some crazy stuff (in a good way). I love getting to see people and hear them talk about a book I've already gotten a chance to read. It makes me connect even more to the thing I enjoyed in the book and then appreciate the author for things beyond just that one topic. I've also heard and loved Mark Yaconelli who was FANTASTIC! I went and bought two of his books while Shane Claiborne was starting. I am a little hesitant to hear Shane speak...I don't know if I'll like what he has to say or not. He is talking about loving people, so I guess I should get in there and buy into the idea more. Here are some books by the guys I'm talking about. Hope you enjoy them. PEACE Doug Tuesday, April 8, 2008Finally the world is catching up to the demand
![]() Mead a popular supplier of college-ruled paper has come out with the next thing in post-high-school-ruled paper: Grad-school-ruled notebooks! FINALLY! As the Onion reports:
"We here at Mead understand that as students get older and wiser, they need notebooks with increasingly narrow lines," Mead CEO John A. Luke told reporters. "In college, people are at a stage in their education where they require 9/32nds of an inch between each line, which is why we make college-ruled notebooks. But I think we can all agree that grad school is a completely different world than college—a world where 9/32nds of an inch is simply too much room."You can read all about it here. ![]() After my last post I wanted to make another awesome commentary on the Cubs. I took the original from thinkgeek.com if you like the saying. I have the motivation one in my office.
PEACE Doug Top 5 things cops say you should do when pulled over
I thought this was cool, considering I always feel like I am a jerk no matter what I do after being pulled over.
1. If I make a joke, I'm trying to soften the cop up (they don't like that) 2. If I act mad, they get pissed, and more picky (not a good combo) 3. If I act like a nice guy and do everything they ask when they ask with a smile on my face I am tying to manipulate them into letting me off (nobody likes to be manipulated). So it seems like a lose-lose situation. But according to Car and Driver they do prefer one of those three options. Since Car and Driver's article isn't on the web, wired.com snagged it and put it on their site here. This is my favorite thing not to do: "2. Do not jump out of the vehicle, do not make sudden movements and do not approach the officer.PEACE Doug Saturday, April 5, 2008Hillary's Profile

![]() blue lensed glasses that block red light, which triggers hunger and tints your food blue, which calms the brain's appetite sensors...if this works, I'd be very surprised. Most of the food I eat doesn't look good, but it has never really slowed me down before.
They're only like $19 bucks plus shipping, so if you try it out tell me how it works. And send a picture of you wearing them. PEACE Doug Wednesday, April 2, 2008Robin Williams saves the day
The BBC world debate had technical difficulties and luckily they had a crazy man in the crowd that entertained while until their "live debate" went live. His stand up isn't that funny, I just like that he is the type of guy that loves to get up in front of crowds and save the day by being himself. Check out the video here.
PEACE Doug LARP=Live Action Role Playing
![]() These guys take gaming to the next level. Although LARPing isn't a new thing, the popularity of this peculiar production is. Wired.com just ran a story looking into the happenings of a LARPing weekend.
It is pretty interesting, but I don't think I'll be going to one soon. Only because as I google this stuff I'm not seeing any in my area...otherwise I'd grab my fake ears and my +2 broadsword and do some damage...not really. PEACE Doug Tuesday, April 1, 2008news on the myspace suicide...
I follow this stuff because I care about security on the internet for youth, and I was really disappointed when I read about this at wired.com . Just more of a reminder that adults aren't above acting incredibly stupid and evil on myspace just because they're adults.
This morning one of the teens involved in Megan Meier's suicide named Lori Drew as the adult that also helped in creating and sending messages. They did this by creating a fake myspace account and emotionally abusing the girl to the point of suicide. Up to this point Drew was considered to know of it, but not participating, but now the teen is saying that Drew was the one that sent the final message that convinced Megan to end her own life. PEACE Doug If you have a friend that has a new macbook do this!
Then tell me how it went. This is the Newton virus, it is used to create gravity on your desktop using the setup on all new macbooks to create the effect. Watch and laugh at how bothered someone would be from it.
