Last One

Ok this can be my last post of the day, maybe. It is just too funny to ignore.
PEACE
Doug

that last post was a joke

Here is a cool website I found that is pretty great and user friendly. It makes my life happier. It's called Songza, you don't have to download anything but you can listen to any music streaming on the web, make a playlist, it's great. There is no subscription neccesary or anything, and you don't download the music so it's legal! I like it for listening to great Christmas music that I don't own, but I've also started listening to other good stuff on there to, you should all go check it out.

Just realized something about myself

I never finish anyth

new independant canidate I might actually vote for!

Again this one is found at thinkgeek.com I'm just trying to find things that I want for Christmas (that are reasonably priced) but I'm not having much luck.

Christmas idea for all of you that don't know what to get your favorite annoying blogger

This would be a fun way to decorate my office with all those books without using a lame ordinary bookshelf. And I could use ten of these things, so if a few different people got me one that would be rad. If you want to read about it, you can here at thinkgeek.com I love checking their site to see what kind of crazy inventions are new and exciting and potentially hilarious in the work place. Like a six inch remote control helicopter that is silent and shoots foam missiles...think of the mischief I could get into...beautiful. I'll let you know if I find more things I can't live without. Which is a great possibility. I've already found a book that teaches you how to do crazy things with really normal things, like how to turn pencil lead into a microphone or a business card into a boomerang, or two styrofoam cups into a calculator.

Be Silent

I hope I'm not the only one that could use this.

Go To Walmart!

Here is a cool snippet I found about something Walmart is doing...I thought it was pretty cool. This is from the Press Release
Wal-Mart Stores, Inc., in partnership with The Salvation Army, will broadcast a Christmas Carol Concert in all stores and Sam's Club locations on Dec. 7 via the retailer's in-store TV network. The Concert features a Christmas message from Pastor Rick Warren, author of "The Purpose Driven Life," and music by The Salvation Army's New York Staff Brass Band and the Wal-Mart associate choir.
Pastor Warren's message, which was specially recorded for Wal-Mart and Sam's Club shoppers, is at the heart of the Christmas Carol Concert to be aired on Wal-Mart and Sam's Club TV at 9:30 a.m. in all time zones. Wal-Mart and The Salvation Army approached Warren after the pastor gave a speech about the importance of giving back during The Salvation Army's NAOC Conference in April 2007. As part of the event, The Salvation Army recognized both Pastor Warren and Wal-Mart with the organization's coveted Evangeline Booth Award for excellence in spiritual leadership and corporate philanthropy respectively.
"The holiday season is a time of reflection and togetherness, and a time for all of us to gather with loved ones and count our blessings," said Pastor Warren. "I hope the Christmas Carol Concert, and my special Christmas message, will make this season extra meaningful for all who watch it."

That is all

Cool legacy video

Thought this was a cool video. Never really listened to the words of this song, though I like it. It'd be cool for a sermon series on leaving a legacy or doing something now, or how high school feels grownup.

Sorry! I got busy

I know that isn't an excuse but, it happened. And you know what the best thing for me to do when I'm too busy? Volunteer to take over more stuff! I am going to be revamping the Summer Games University in the next couple of weeks. Hopefully it ends up looking as cool as eNGedi's site, but that's doubtful, mainly because David designed our site...but I have some neat ideas. I'm sure it'll be OK.
I'm approaching finals week. These will be my first finals in something like three years and I hope I remember how to not fail them. I used to be really good at not failing but we'll see if I'm too old to remember.
I didn't get into the playoffs in my own fantasy football league, that is pretty pathetic. I won last year on a fluke so it isn't a HUGE surprise but it would have been nice to repeat.
Well, I think I'm back on track so keep checking back, and I'll keep udating.

We are heading to Marion today. We were planning on leaving around 3 or 4 but now that the snow is coming down we might try to leave earlier. I'll have to go pack GH3 so that my family doesn't get mad at me. Oh yeah....I now play on hard exclusively so...I'm kind of a big deal. And Liz has bumped up to medium. I want to play rock band sometime just to see how everything works, that would make me happy.
I can't really think of anything I want for Christmas. Everyone keeps asking but all I can think of is blue jeans. I just got five books I'm pretty excited about, they came from a recommended reading list from an author I really like. I think I'm going to start the one called "Every Man's Talmud" I'm sure it'll be an exciting read that everyone will want to know about once I finish. But first I need to do a book review of "unChristian" so that should be coming in the next couple of days.
Every time I look at this picture I think about what Jaxon will be like in the next couple of years. I can't wait until he's old enough to play Hungry Hungry Hippos with me, or get beat in basketball for the first time by me. So many memories still to be made...Oh Christmas time...

here's a picture for you

Apparently I'm talking too much and not showing enough pictures of my son. So, I figured I should let the mouth behind the criticism be in the picture. I tried to get one that wasn't flattering for him, but I think Jax should be way more embarrassed for his pose.
I'm leaving in an hour to go pick up Megan and Simon from the train station in Mt. Pleasant. I'm jealous, I'd like to take a train ride through the mountains...neato.
Hopefully I'll have more pictures later.

PS: I think I just realized why my dad wanted me to show more pictures and talk less. Probably because I changed the font size and now he can't read it, so he wants more pictures to look at. Normally he would take offense to that, but he'd have to have someone read this to him anyway...

book review?

I've been hearing about this movie coming out. Mostly I'm being warned to not see it because it should be boycotted, which I haven't heard since Harry Potter was first coming out, and I sure as heck didn't boycott that. So, I'm wondering if anyone has read it or knows a little more into the plot than these fwd's I'm getting lead to. All I've heard (SPOILER ALERT) is that the climax is supposed to be killing God. And that it teaches atheism. Usually my policy isn't ignorance, or neglecting the story, but talking about it and hearing the other side after seeing it. But, if there is a really good reason not to see it that I haven't heard, please tell me before I say it's ok to parents, and then get in trouble. Thanks.

I have nothing too special to report on today. Just a normal helping of my life. It's hard to believe that after a good long run of eNGedi products there are still a lot of my friends that don't know about it. I guess that's normal though, we haven't done any real marketing to let people know about us we're relying mostly on word of mouth. Speaking of that Matt has been trying to get the newest line ready to go so we'll give you updates as that gets closer, don't worry you'll have plenty of time to get them before Christmas.
I have been getting a little overwhelmed with things lately as far as school and work and all that stuff. I like to use my weekends as a total vacation, and try not to think about work, but it doesn't work that way. I've been reminded that I need to find my balance again. So that nothing gets out of control. I would appreciate some prayer on that stuff if you could spare a couple seconds.
I have been reading a lot, and thinking of ways to challenge myself, in my faith, life, skills, and everything. My Granddad has been telling me about the food pantry they run out of their church and how many families they help weekly, and how simple it is to do. It just takes a little know-how, and some help from people who care to feed dozens of families. They have been so overwhelmed with support that they provide food for several surrounding soup kitchens and shelters as well as helping other food programs become successful. Like a program that gives a kid a backpack on Friday after school full of food, so he and is family have something to eat over the weekend. I wonder how easy it would really be to do this, if people were excited about feeding the hungry, even here in Marshalltown. I wish I had time right now to look into it more seriously. Someday though...

Here's what you can do right now

Here is a link to a petition that you can sign to do your part, to try and get the writers some of the money they deserve from the new media via the internet. Go to unitedhollywood.com to see what is going on if you don't already know. If you don't care, think about this: 24 is done until 2009, the office has stopped production, and there has already been a Heroes spin-off canceled because of the strike. Who knows if Lost will ever get finished! Just something that interests me.

Production of The Office has stopped...NO!!!!!!!!

Check out this video it is a nice explanation of what is going on and why this stuff is happening, but it doesn't mean I'm happy that the Office needs to be put on hold. I'm very not happy.

There was a horrible crash at the corner of www and .com

Ok, well apparently there was some kind of accident or crash involving our website and the server and I don't think the server was wearing its seatbelt, so it had to be life-flighted to the nearest geeksquad, but after a few hours of surgery and some serious emotion, it recovered and we're back in action.
I was then in Springfield MO eating cashew chicken and visiting family (not in that order). I got to see my cousin Daniel who was on leave for two weeks from Iraq for his 21st birthday. It was good to see him! Now he has four more months and he should be home for good. I also got to see a lot of family and friends we don't get to see nearly often enough. And since it wasn't over a holiday weekend it was a lot less busy and a lot more like a great mini-vacation. Liz went shopping everyday and I watched whole lot of football, and tried to beat Haley in Guitar Hero 3 (tried). Jaxon got a new outfit, and yes that is his new Griffindor tie, even if you think that's lame, you have to admit he looks good.
Now I'm back to the real world, I have a lot of homework to do now that I ignored it while I was on my vacation. I have to read a book, write 4 papers, and do some more math to stay ahead in that class. FUN! Hopefully everything works out and I don't lose any hair over it.
I also decided I was going to shrink the font size down to a smaller size since I'm writing so much. Ok, well normal updates should start today, like I have time...haha

I'm having a great wiikend

I gave in and bought Guitar Hero III for my Wii. I've been justifying it since before I bought it, but this is the first Guitar Hero game I've ever owned. Since I've never owned one, I've never been able to play more than a couple songs at a time; and beating "I Love Rock and Roll" on easy never really made me any better. So, now I get to really play it and practice so that someday when people ask me which song I like to play I can say "the Devil Went Down to Georgia" on EXPERT! But that day is not today...I still suck at the game.

I also got to play Madden '08 thanks to Matt for bringing it over this wiikend, and I really liked it. The controls seem to be much improved from '07 and physics are great. I'm hoping Tiger Woods is equally as improved because Reed let me borrow that to see if I like it. I can't wait.

Right now, however, I'm sitting in Jordan Creek Mall, hoping my wife runs out of spending money so I can go home and play these great games.
My sister has her final musical performance tonight, and I'm missing it! I feel like a jerk, but I know she'll do amazingly. She has a better voice than me, and almost as impressive good-looks (just kidding, I'm a beter singer<----joke). I'm sure she'll be in many more theatrical performances and improve her skills with each one. That's just how she rolls.

Just a funny clip I wanted to show people that like the US Office. It is the original UK Office with the creator Ricky Gervais as the boss of the office. And the pirate with the wooden eye from Pirates of the Caribbean as the Dwight character. If you like it, you should go rent the Office Season 1 and 2, you won't be disappointed.
